As the saying goes, “A cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind.” It doesn’t have to be that way. Keeping your desk tidy, whether at work or home, can keep your work more organized and efficient. So here sre some ways to maintain your desk:

Minimize the clutter: Piles of files, pens strewn everywhere, cell phone ringing underneath the mess- if this how your desk looks on a regular day, this is for you. Having unnecessary things around creates dust piles, gives your desk a messy look and most of all clutters your mind! A clean clutter free desk not only reduces stress but also leads to an uncluttered mind which helps you perform better.

Use drawers: Using drawers will not only help in keeping your desk clean but also save your time in finding the files when required. Unwanted piles of papers and file at the corner of your desk attract lot of dust and bacteria making your desk untidy. Storing unwanted files and documents will not only give you make your desk look cleaner but will also minimize the chances of a bacterial hideout causing various illness.

Wash Hands: Wash your hands after regular intervals as much as you can to minimize the spread of bacteria. Make sure when you eat at your desk, start working again only after washing your hands. Also don’t share your hand towel with others as this will only help in passing germs. You can also use hand sanitizers to keep the bacteria at bay.

Travelling involves a lot of use of the feet, and if your feet aren’t comfortable, travelling can become quite stressful. To avoid this pain and discomfort, invest in a pair of good comfortable shoes that will keep your feet comfortable and happy as you travel, letting you concentrate on your work!

If being on foot is a major part of your travelling, a good pair of sports shoes should do the trick. Women are always found walking around in pencil heels, it would be a good idea to discard these and opt for flats or canvas sandals. Uncomfortable shoes can also cause a number of painful conditions in your feet such as Achilles tendon, corns, calluses, athlete’s foot etc.

Cardio exercise strengthens the individual’s heart and lungs by increasing the heart beat rate by aiming to achieve the THR. Once the body achieves THR it forces the heart to pump more blood to cope with the improved blood circulation, this result in the heart being exercised; a regular cardio regime’s main aim is to strengthen the heart muscles, making the heart healthy in the process. A healthy heart automatically translates to a drop in blood pressure and bad cholesterol levels – LDL along with an increase in good cholesterol levels –HDL.

Similarly Cardio exercises with their steady and repeated actions account for an increased oxygen intake due to a rise in the heart rate. This increased oxygen intake helps expand your lungs, exercising them in the process and improving their endurance too.

Alzheimer’s is often left untreated in many cases for it is confused with dementia or senility which is a natural and gradual occurrence in old age. However there are some tell tale signs that if observed can help identify Alzheimer’s early on.

Difficulty in performing simple daily tasks that require co-ordination such as buttoning up a shirt, tying of shoe laces, cooking, dressing, bathing etc.

Forgetting recent happenings and names points towards Alzheimer’s in adults over 65 years of age.

Misplacing things frequently or placing things such as car keys in the sink or dinner plates on the steps.

Having problems with simple judgment such as clothing – wearing three shirts instead of one, wearing many layers of socks or not wearing a shirt or any other item of clothing are pointers towards Alzheimer’s in your parents.

While this may not be an actual part of the skin care regime, it is a mistake nonetheless. Just try keeping a count of the number of times you touch your face within a day; you are bound to lose count around mid-day, which is how often the face gets touched!

Cutting down on the unnecessary touching of the face can considerably lower the chances of developing a skin condition. Our hands touch a variety of surfaces and can accumulate a lot of germs and bacteria, which when transferred over to the face can give rise to various skin conditions. Those with Acne are advised not to touch their faces unnecessarily as it can aggravate their acne, plus spread the bacteria to unaffected parts of their face increasing their chances of developing more acne!

To avoid touching your face excessively you’ll have to stop supporting your cheek and chin on your palm as you sit, other times consciously avoid touching your face.

To know more such mistakes see 6 Most common skin mistakes

Many people dread mornings as they’ve to unwillingly trudge to the workplace. Alarming right? Especially when we spend more than one-third of our day at the workplace or on an average of 40- 50 hours per week, actually the workplace can be great fun. So here is how you can enjoy your work:

Time Management

Time Management is the one age old key when it comes to enjoying your work as it helps one to increase their efficiency and thereby performance. Both these factors can improve the quality of your work and lessen the time required to give an output; stress also becomes almost non-existent when you manage your time well. For better time management learn how to prioritize the tasks at hand and time yourself, say by giving each task a 4 hour deadline.

Avoid procrastination

Procrastination might seem wonderful; especially when it lets you push work far away from you! Often as is the case with procrastination, work piles up and no one enjoys going to work only to be greeted with a mountain of work awaiting them on their desk. The best way to start enjoying your work is to complete your work on the assigned day and leave for the day with a satisfaction of having achieved something rather than going home with a sense of foreboding what work tomorrow will bring.
