How to make elderly parents happy and healthy?

When your parents get old, it becomes your moral responsibility to take care of them. After all, they looked after you for all these years and it is important for you to take care of parents health when they need help.

  • Ignorance of prevalent ‘niggling’ health problems

Many a times our parents tend to push their niggling health problems under the carpet attributing these conditions to their growing ages, but this very ignorance on their part can lead to a treatable condition turning serious.

For e.g. Niggling Health Conditions such as a constant head ache over a period of time, if left unchecked could point towards Hypertension, a pain in the back and neck could be due to a slipped disc.

  • Junk Food Consumption

Most people tend to ignore the fact that as one ages the body’s capacity to ingest junk food goes down with it. The same 4 burgers or that buttered up Pav-Bhaji that your parent could have easily digested in his or her youth now have the capacity to increase their cholesterol count or blood pressure owing to their high sodium content!

Incessant consumption of junk food not only throws their nutritional needs away for a toss but also ups their risk of developing serious conditions such as cardiac problems, hypertension and diabetes.
