Can Cabbage help in losing weight?
Cabbage is mainly good for building muscles and aiding the development of strong bones. Unlike other vegetables whose nutrients are enhanced with cooking, cabbage loses half of its nutrients and its most important anti-oxidants in the process of cooking. Instead, eating the cabbage in its raw form, as in a salad or as a juice helps (possibly even in fighting breast cancer). The good proportion of Vitamin A in cabbage helps with vision problems while the fiber in it helps in building bones.
There is another surprising benefit of cabbage, “Cabbage has ‘negative calories’, that is if cabbage contains 20 calories then the process of digesting it makes you lose 30 calories, so you lose more calories than you burn” reveals Khyati Rupani, Dietician and a former chief dietician of Lilavati. This will make cabbage a hit among those trying to lose weight, for sure!
