What are the bad effects of caffeine on your health?

Caffeine is not always bad for you. One small cup of coffee a day can be beneficial to your health. However, ingesting three or more cups of coffee or continually drinking caffeinated beverages throughout the day can cause adverse effects.

  • Caffeine leads to increased heart rate, increased blood pressure, and occasional irregular heartbeat which overloads the adrenal gland and increases increasing vulnerability to disease pathogens and other health hazards.
  •  It is also found to create indigestion, skin irritations and arthritic flare-ups.
  • Caffeine causes a release of glycogen by the liver, which can generate wild swings in blood sugar, causing attacks of hypoglycemia i.e. low blood sugar.
  • Caffeine puts burden on the kidneys so may lead to kidney complications.
