How to treat Common cold?

  • The best way to treat a cold is to let it pass on its own; no medication will help to cure it.
  • When you child shows no interest in food, you need to make sure that he or she gets required fluids to avoid dehydration.
  • Avoid OTC (over the counter) medication for colds in children younger than 12 years.
  • If your child’s temperature increases to be more than 101.4 F you can give your child some acetaminophen and brufen. Don’t give aspirin to children below the age of 18, as it is harmful for their livers and kidneys.
  • For infants, saline drops are recommended to thin the mucus and bulb suction is used to suck the mucus out to help clearing the congestion.
