How to prevent acne?

Acne happens to anyone at any age, even though it does not affect the physical health, it leaves a mark on the psychology of the person. In puberty when there is a need to fit in and look good, acne leads to low self esteem, in older age it can well be embarrassing to have acne all over again. So here are some tips to prevent it:

  • If you tend to have acne in other parts of the body other than the face like neck, shoulders and back, avoid wearing tight clothes especially those which tend to keep the sweat in.
  • After any rigorous activity like exercise that increases sweating, take a bath to clean out the pores.
  • Wash your face twice a day, not more with a cleanser that is mild and not too harsh on the skin. You can choose a medicated cleanser with benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid and sulphur after consultation with you dermatologist.
  • When you are prone to getting acne, you must avoid touching your face unnecessarily as the germs and dust present on the fingers come in contact with the pores of the skin causing inflammation or infection.
