How to choose a diet for healthy eyes?
Your parent’s body requires an adequate intake of Vitamin A, B2, DHA and EHA and Magnesium to maintain good eyesight and prevent vision problems during old age! Foods like:
- Garlic and Onions: Garlic and onions are good for the eyesight as both of them contain high levels of sulfur, which is needed for the production of glutathione, an anti-oxidant needed for good eye sight.
- Orange Foods: Orange foods include Carrots, papayas, pumpkins, apricots etc. They help in preventing dry eyes, corneal ulcers and spotting of the white part of the eye.
- Vitamin C: Green leafy vegetables such as spinach are an excellent source of vitamin C, so are citrus fruits such as oranges, grapefruit, sweet lime etc. Vitamin C is required to fight off cataracts, macular degeneration and infections by the body.
- Beans and Lentil: Beans and Lentil should be included in your parent’s diet too, as they contain Magnesium which is especially good for patient suffering from Glaucoma, as they increase blood circulation and reduces eye pressure.
