What are ways to overcome retirement blues?

Often when a person reaches the retirement, they experience boredom and problems filling the new time they have on their hands. This can lead to depression and a sense of lack of worth. Retirement does not mean sitting around and waiting for the end, but rather it is a phase in life where a person can get out and enjoy rewarding activities that maybe they did not have the time to do while they were part of a work force and taking care of children. You can take up things like:

Explore and travel: You might have curbed their interest to travel and see the world due to job and family ties but post retirement is the time to retrace their interest.

Hobby: Gardening, playing cards, Sudoku or cooking your parents might have many hobbies and this is the opportunity to take them on enthusiastically.

Volunteer: Volunteering makes them feel like they are doing something for their society and they feel satisfied.
